What: An approximately five kilometre-long outdoor trek.
When: 2:00 p.m. local time on Sunday, March 25, 2012.
Where: In communities across Canada. You can have your trek in a public park, on a walking trail or down a neighbourhood street, it’s all up to you!
How: You can go as an individual, with a handful of good friends, as a family, or with your neighbours, coworkers and fellow students - your whole community. For a list of community treks, click here.
Why: To raise much-needed funds to carry out the TS Foundation's mission of hope, to bring caring people together, to raise awareness, and to have fun! We chose March, a wintry month, so that the trek would be “as challenging as the lives of people affected by Tourette Syndrome, with weather as unpredictable as the disorder itself.” Prizes Official Prize Rules
Top National Fundraiser Prize – Blackberry PlayBook 32GB (1 available) Awarded to the individual trekker (whether trekking as a member of a team or alone) who raises the highest total amount of donations in the country as of April 30th, 2012 at midnight EST.
Top National Team Fundraiser Prize – TS Jewelry (up to 5 available) Awarded to the registered team that raises the highest total amount of donations in the country as of April 30th, 2012 at midnight EST. A maximum of 5 pieces of jewelry - of the team members’ choosing - will be awarded, although teams containing more than 5 members are still eligible to win. The choices of jewelry (listed on the national website in the shopping section) are, inclusive: a bracelet, a pair of earrings, a necklace and a key chain.
Top Community Fundraiser Prize – Trek Gloves with Woven Labels (1 pair available at each community trek) Awarded to the top individual trekker (whether trekking as a member of a team or alone) in each official community trek who raises the highest total amount of donations out of all trekkers participating in their respective community trek as of April 30th, 2011 at midnight EST. Official community trek locations are listed on the 2011 Trek for Tourette event page on the TSFC’s website.
Trek gloves are available in a variety of sizes. Winners will be contacted to select the size of their gloves.
Toques and Scarves with Woven Labels Toques will be given to each trekker who raises $50 or more. Scarves (in addition to a toque) will be given to each trekker who raises $125 or more.
A Note On Teams If donations are made to a team and not to a particular member of a team, that total amount may be divided among members at the team captain’s discretion in the case of toques (if it brings a team member’s total to $50) or scarves (if it brings a team member’s total to $125), but not in the case of the top national or top community fundraiser prizes.
